All of these updates to the overall system are fantastic, but the biggest problem I've had with the storage has gone untouched for the entirety of the ps4's life span. Ever since day 1, I've had to free up a ridiculous amount of space on my hard drive to download a simple mb update. It makes no sense. However, I can't think of a single explanation why it would tell me 2. I mean, I'll probably opt for upgrading the internal at some point now that I'm exceeding my hard drive's capacity. Still, for this particular instance I strongly feel that the problem isn't that I don't have a big enough hard drive, it's that the PS4's software isn't doing its job properly.

My understanding is that you have a lot of free space, but not a lot of contiguous free space. In other words, your disk usage is fragmented into lots of really small chunks, and PS4 wants to put the download into a chunk that can hold all of it. Oct 31, · HDD space.
